Accessibility statement

APS Group is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and in doing so adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines.

An outline of key guidelines and standards the website follows

This website is run by The APS Group and endeavours to conform to level Double-A of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

• change colours, contrast levels and fonts on most of the website
• zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen on most of the website
• navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
• navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
• listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Any known exceptions to the intended level of web accessibility

We know some parts of the website are not fully accessible:

• Pages do not have a focus indicator or skip to main content indicator
• Some components are not fully interactive by keyboard e.g. use of tabbing, titles marked as Headers or fields marked as input fields.
• Some pages cannot zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
• Some placeholder content requires further contrast
• Online design templates:
• (a) are not fully accessible to screen reader software.
• (b) there’s a limit to how far you can magnify

APS Group is committed to offering an accessible website, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Whilst we strive to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the existing website.

We are committed to delivering a new solution built using code compliant with W3C standards for HTML and CSS. This would displays correctly in current browsers and using standards compliant HTML/CSS code means any future browsers will also display it correctly.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Design online templates

Our design online features are built by a third party software and ‘embedded' our website.

Other solutions have been assessed, and we will make another assessment when the supplier contract is up for renewal, in September 2022.

Page navigation, main focus, contrast and zoom

We’ve assessed the cost of fixing the software. We believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden but we are committed to delivering a new interface to our webshop in 2022 which will include the core ordering functions.

We will then continue to resolve elements that require addressing throughout that will bring all areas of the site up to the same level of overall web accessibility
